Going to Paris

As the 2024 Olympics near, two of the Bay Area’s swimming family have found their way to the Paris Games. Evgenii Somov (Yev), a Masters competitor and coach for Albany Armada Aquatics (the USAS arm of Albany Armada Aquatic Masters) has navigated the complex process of gaining clearance from the ban on soviet athletes and will compete at the Olympics! Yev, a Russian national, has been granted neutral status to swim in Paris. He is likely to be the only Russian swimmer to compete at the quadrennial event.
