About Pacific Masters Clubs

Clubs are at the very heart of Masters swimming. A club with coaches and scheduled workouts is what really sets Masters swimming apart from recreational swimmers doing laps in any old pool. A regular schedule makes it easier to keep swimming as part of your daily routine. Seeing the same people at workouts builds camaraderie and friendships that help to keep you coming back for more. A coach on deck is indispensible for improving your technique, helping you over hurdles so you can become a better swimmer, improve your fitness, reduce your risk of injury, enjoy your time in the water more, and help you challenge yourself to new events, be it an open water event, a pool meet, or any goal you have set for yourself. Structured workouts help provide diversity to your workout time, that will make you a better all-round swimmer.

About Club Membership

Pacific Masters Swimming welcomes new Masters swim clubs and encourages Masters swimmers to join an existing club or form a new Masters club. Use this form to apply for membership for a new club, or to renew the membership for an existing club. Clubs must pay an annual fee of $46 to Pacific Masters. This fee entitles the club to USMS liability insurance coverage as long as certain requirements are met:

  • Everyone in the workout must be a registered Masters or USS swimmer (a grace period is allowed) and the group must be supervised by a person currently registered with US Masters Swimming.

Additionally, the club will receive

  • A USMS Rule Book
  • PacMasters newsletters
  • Free access to our video library
  • Quarterly roster updates
  • Periodic updates on schedule changes, insurance and other Masters information.

Club members may participate as a team and field relays in any of our pool or open water events and would be eligible to bid to sponsor an event. Each club has a vote on the PacMasters Swim Committee which meets monthly. A club in good standing must have 4 registered swimmers.

Pacific Masters Swimming has available the USMS booklet, Building A Successful Masters Club, for new clubs. It has helpful information on starting and maintaining a successful Masters program.
