- About Us
The 2017 Pacific Masters Spring Season provides plenty of competitive opportunities with eight local meets, two postal events and a recognized senior games event. Distance enthusiasts can start anytime during the first two months with the TAM Jon Steiner Memorial 1650 Postal and the Speedo USMS 1-Hour National Postal. Participants in these events must complete their swims sometime between January 1 and February 28. Members can combine the two swims by submitting a 1650 split from the hour swim. Please note, this is the first year participants have until the end of February to do the hour swim.
The first competitive event of the year on January 21 is the Santa Rosa Resolution Meet providing 50s and 200s of each stroke plus the 100-yard free and I.M. A special feature of the meet is the resolution challenge in which participants’ 50 yard free times are age and gender adjusted to determine a single overall winner.
Next up January 28 is The Olympic Club 1500, swum at the host’s downtown San Francisco facility. In addition to the opportunity to experience luxurious locker rooms this is a great opportunity to get in a short course meters swim early in the year.
The USF Valentine’s Affair, February 4, is a popular and long-standing event, also conducted in San Francisco. The Koret Center features a fast, all-deep pool with lots of warm up space. 50’s and 100’s of all events will be offered.
On February 11, we welcome a new event, the Splash and Dash Sprint Pentathlon hosted by the Albany Armada Aquatic Masters. As the name implies the meet will feature 50’s of each event plus the 100 I.M. Awards will be given the participants in each age group and gender with the lowest cumulative time across all five events.
There will be another distance opportunity on February 26 with the City Mile, sponsored by Pacific Masters. The meet’s only event is the 1650 and it is swum at the City College of San Francisco pool.
The Rinconada Masters Spring Meet takes place on March 11 at the Rinconada Pool in Palo Alto. A wide spectrum of events is offered including rare opportunities to swim the 1000 free and 400 I.M. outside of a championship setting. A special feature of the meet is a 1650 fly offered after the meet.
On March 19, the Cal Aquatic Masters will be hosting their annual event at Spieker Pool on the UC Berkeley campus. All freestyle events 500 yards and less are offered as are the 50 and 100 of the other strokes plus the 100 and 200 I.M. Sign up early for the 500 free as space is limited.
The Visalia Senior Games on March 26 provides a rare competitive swimming opportunity for members in the southern central valley. Results from this recognized event are eligible for USMS and Pacific Masters Top 10 tabulations.
The local short course yards season wraps up with the Pacific Masters Short Course Yards Championships from April 7 to 9. One of the largest competitive events on the USMS calendar, this year’s championships will be held at the Soda Aquatic Center in Moraga. Coach of the Year and Swimmer of the Year awards are presented during the event.
This year the USMS Short Course Yards National Championships will take place on the west coast in Riverside, CA from April 27 to 30.
More information on all these events is available on Pacific Masters Schedule.
